Lord, I come before you
Open and transparent

As long as I cling to sin
Prize it above You
Fail to recognize sin for what it is
Our fellowship is broken

The prayers of a prideful, unrepentant heart
By when I repent
When I confess my sin

During my devotional time, I’m writing out the Psalms. Today I was in Psalm 66, verses 13-20, which fueled this poem.
18 If I regard iniquity in my heart,
The Lord will not hear.
19 But certainly God has heard me;
He has attended to the voice of my prayer.
The Lord will not hear.

Who has not turned away my prayer,

Hi Susan, I love your poem. This morning I was reflecting on how serious sin is. I have been reading through Leviticus lately, as a result, reflecting on all of the sacrifices they had to do because of sin. Then as we all know, the ultimate sacrifice was Jesus on the cross. Sin destroys, no way around that fact. The thing is, Jesus did not die to buy us a license to sin or purchase fire insurance so that we are free to sin.Thank you for sharing this and I pray that you have a blessed weekend.Ken
