Russia Rising by Mark Hitchcock – A helpful guide to better understand Bible Prophesy

I was excited to read pastor and teacher Mark Hitchcock’s newest book Russia Rising – Tracking the Bear in Bible Prophecy.

Pastor Mark Hitchcock is a solid Bible and prophesy teacher.  He is well balanced and does not get off track like some Bible prophesy teachers.  He doesn’t try to manipulate current events into fulfillment of Biblical end time events.  He’s not a date setter and has good understanding of Scripture and a healthy respect for God’s timetable which He alone knows.

Russia Rising starts with a history of Russia and goes into recent incidents that give evidence that Russia, under the leadership of President Vladimir Putin, is exercising more and more power and is actively expanding their reach into other countries, like Syria and Iran.  Russia is a formidable foe on the world stage.

One area I disagreed with Mark was his take on 2016 US presidential election.  He spoke of the Russian fake news strategy and the DNC “hacking” as the work of Russian spies.  That narrative is one that is suspect at best and may have actually been internal leaks from someone within the DNC.

Mark went into great detail to explain why the king of the north, from Ezekiel 38-39 and Daniel 11 is modern-day Russian.  He also discussed the various interpretations on when the War of Gog and Magog may take place.  He not only covers his own opinion on when this event may take place, but he also addresses other views and explains if they line up with Scripture, history, current events and Bible prophesy.

I especially appreciated Mark bringing the discussion of Bible prophesy and end times back to Christ.  He reminded the reader that anticipating the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ should impact us to live holy lives and eagerly share the Gospel message with unbelievers around us.

If you want to have a better understand biblical end time events and know what in the world is going with Russia and how it all fits into Bible prophesy, pick up a copy of Russia Rising by Mark Hitchcock.

The Coming Islamic Invasion of Israel – by Mark Hitchcock – Interesting and Informative

Earlier this year I had the opportunity to hear Pastor Mark Hitchcock preach a message on Ezekiel 38 and 39.  It was a riveting and fast-paced hour.  So I jumped at the opportunity to read his book The Coming Islamic Invasion of Israel and I was not disappointed.  He wrote this book to expand upon a chapter in an earlier book What on Earth Is Going On.  With radical Islam in the news on a regular basis readers may also wonder how Islam fits into Bible prophesy.

Mark helps the reader to understand who the players are, their ancient Biblical names and the corresponding countries and locations in today’s world.  He takes what can seem like a puzzle and helps put the pieces in place to reveal how these nations may play into God’s end time events as prophesied in Ezekiel and Revelation.

Mark also delves into God’s prophetic timetable:  How close are we to the Rapture and when will the Battle of Gog and Magog occur?  He is mindful that only God knows the day and the hour when the church will be raptured and when the Tribulation will begin.  But Mark closely examines the signs of the times and admonishes Christians to live in light of the Lord’s soon return.

I appreciated his clear presentation of the Gospel message and reinforcing biblical theology that God has not given up on Israel or replaced His chosen nation.

Whether you have a good understanding of Bible prophesy or are new to the study, I believe you will benefit from this book.  I highly recommend Pastor Mark Hitchcock’s book The Coming Islamic Invasion of Israel.

Be Equipped to Understand the Times – Read “Implosion” by Joel C. Rosenberg

When Joel Rosenberg’s newest book “Implosion” was released I was excited at the prospect of reading it.  Joel’s fiction books are riveting and interwoven with Bible prophesy.  I wanted know Joel’s take on the economic and spiritual decline of our nation and answer to the question is America mentioned in Bible prophesy.
Initially, I was concerned that “Implosion” would be very depressing, but instead I found it interesting, sobering, personally challenging as a Christian and hopeful because God gives second chances.
Joel did an excellent job in explaining why he and many other experts believe our nation is at a tipping point.  Have we gone past a point of no return?  Every day we see the effects of the economic crisis impacting people and business all around us with home foreclosures and businesses going under.  Just turn on the TV news for a half-hour and you’ll see the devastating affects the moral decline in this nation.  Has God taken His hand off this country?  Have we sown to the wind, only to reap the whirlwind?
To answer these questions and more, Joel covers a lot of ground.  One of the most interesting chapters was “America’s Rising Anxiety” in which we learn that people from all walks of life, from both sides of the aisle, believers and unbelievers alike who are seeing what’s going on in the nation and are deeply concerned.  I was most incredulous about the chapter “The Case of the Optimists”, but Joel did an excellent job in presenting the optimist’s view in seeing how our nation has overcome perilous times in our history.
As a Christian, the chapter I appreciated most, the one that set the tone for the rest of the book, “The Third Lens” in which Joel shows the importance and necessity of viewing current events through the lens of Scripture.  From there some of the topics Joel addressed included “Signs of the Times”, “Are We Living in the Last Days” and “What Happens to America in the Last Days”.  The chapters that are the most sobering are the different scenarios on what might happen to our nation, like financial implosion, war, terrorism, natural disasters and the rapture.  It was fascinating reading about the first and second great awakenings in our nation and it brought me hope that perhaps we will be the beneficiary of God’s mercy once again.
As a Christian the most challenging chapter was “Will America Experience a Third Great Awakening?”  In this chapter Joel encourages Christians to experience a personal revival and tells how we can get right with God.
I highly recommend this book, to anyone who sees our nation on the brink of “Implosion” and wonders “Can American Recover From Its Economic & Spiritual Challenges in Time?”
